I have vague memories of my skates hitting a crack and stopping, followed by my face being stopped by a sidewalk. There followed a vow to cherish roller rinks. You are a skate goddess to be able to skate smoothly on sidewalks.
San José used to have a guy dressed all in white cowboy clothing who skated everywhere. It takes a bit to be more of an attention magnet than that.
