Cleaning up

Right. I have developed some bad habits lately, some worse than others so it's time to knock them on the head. I'm posting this so that there's some accountability and I can't just weasel out later with nobody the wiser.
Smoking: This is the worst. I took it up again at the start of last year when my world went kablooey. I cut myself some slack but since moving in with a smoker things have spiraled out of control. No more.
Alcohol: This is a sometimes treat, not every day. Three days per week alcohol free at *least* and drink as if I was driving when I do drink, even if I'm at home.
Trashy snacks: Confectionary, bready stuff, chips and cheeses. I need to back way off with these...there's a veritable smorgasbord of the stuff next to me at work and I have to make myself ignore it most days.
Exercise: This isn't bad but it's time to bump things up a little. Be more consistant and intense with cycle commuting and when I'm not derby training, do core strengthening exercises.
I can have the body I want if I work at it and I *know* I'll feel so much better on several levels if I do.

Date: 2012-03-19 12:18 pm (UTC)I'm no expert, but stopping the smoking will help with the exercise as well, won't it? Make your lungs better able to cope with it etc. Double benefits there :)
Snacks though... they're hard to give up. Particularly if they're right next to you. Swap desks with someone?
Definitely better to address the habits you don't like now than leaving them for later. And cutting down on the yummy things means you'll appreciate them more when you allow yourself to indulge :)

Date: 2012-03-19 09:50 pm (UTC)Snacks actually aren't so hard to give up. Chips and chocolate are fun but not delights of my life. Cheese is more difficult although I'm not going to cut that out of my life as it's my primary source of dairy. Alcohol will also be more difficult. I really like beer and wine, and not from a getting sloshed perspective. Forgoing the beer or glass of wine with dinner will be a bit difficult sometimes. MOAR TEA!

Mind you, the sugar in some of those wouldn't really be much better for you ;) Cheese should not be given up under any circumstances, it is a most yummy thing suitable for so many meals. Although I'm prepared to admit that it's probably possible to have too much of it.
